Our TMT mills incorporate advanced thermo-mechanical treatment systems that give the finished bars their characteristic combination of high tensile strength and ductility. The rapid quenching process creates a tough martensitic outer layer while preserving a soft, flexible ferrite-pearlite core — meeting IS 1786, BS 4449, and ASTM A706 standards.

For wire rod production, our mills deliver tight diameter tolerances and consistent coil quality at high speeds, making them suitable for downstream applications including wire drawing, fastener manufacturing, and cold heading.

Production process

From billet to finished bar

A GPRM TMT rebar line covers the complete production flow — each stage engineered for consistency, speed, and quality.

Reheating furnace
Billets are heated to rolling temperature (1100–1200°C) in a walking beam or pusher-type furnace for uniform heat distribution.

Roughing & intermediate
Hot billets pass through roughing and intermediate mill stands, progressively reducing the cross-section toward the target size.

Finishing & TMT quenching
The bar passes through finishing stands and then the TMT quenching box — rapid water cooling creates the hard outer layer and ductile core.

Cooling & cutting
Bars are air-cooled on the cooling bed, then cut to commercial lengths by the cold shear. Wire rod is coiled via the laying head and Stelmor conveyor.
